Buddhist monk Preecha Mechai throws grains and beans as an offering at the base of a new statue of Buddha at the Wat Tulsa Hansen Dhammanusorn Temple on Thursday. The temple, started at the beginning of 2016, is at 67th Street North and Trenton Avenue and practices Theravada Buddhism. On Thursday, they installed the statue weighing close to 2 tons. Thai Buddhists celebrated the installment of a long-awaited statue of Buddha outside of a temple in Turley Thursday. Wat Tulsa Hansen Dhammanusorn Temple, which opened at the beginning of 2016, is at 67th Street North and Trenton Avenue. Members of the temple practice Theravada Buddhism. The statue is eight feet tall, weighs nearly two tons and was placed on a five-foot concrete base.
